In the Galley
In what must be another amazing moment for the Jarl, nearly one thousand guizers with flaming torches gather around the Up Helly Aa galley. A former RAF man, the Jarl named the galley ‘Per Ardua’ after the RAF motto ‘Per Ardua ad Astra’, meaning “Through adversity to the stars”.
