Lerwick’s Historic Waterfront II

Photo: Lerwick’s Historic Waterfront II

A quiet morning in Lerwick, overlooking the small boat harbour and some of the historic buildings on the waterfront.

The four most prominent buildings in the photo, from left-to-right, are: The Queen’s Hotel (converted from existing buildings 1868), The Old Tolbooth (built 1770), 38-42 Commercial Street (built 1796, now accommodating Faerdie-Maet takeaway), and Lerwick Post Office (built 1908).

The ‘K’ boot motif at the right of the photo, belonging to a former shoe shop, is now a long-standing local landmark.
